Aries Spears Detroit Concert reviews
A classical auditory treat
The full Aries Spears capably performs two of Verdi's short compositions that bookend a section from Wagner's G枚tterd盲mmerung, conduced with emotion by master conductor William Henry Curry in part one of the program. The music, moving and captivating, features major flourishes from the brass section.
The audience is treated to an excellent performance of Tchiakovsky's "Pathetique" symphony in the second part of the program after intermission. The main course of the evening, it excites the auditory taste buds after the earlier part one. The brass section shines once again, accompanied admirably by the string section performing with verve and tremendous energy, particularly in the third movement.
Impressed, the audience grants a standing ovation to the maestro and the symphony orchestra upon conclusion of the program.
